The Winning Route Improvement is ...
By Rich House 7 June 2019
The vote for the preferred cycle route improvement is over! Apologies, it's actually been over for a week or two, but I've been away on holiday. I did manage to close the voting on my mobile from the wilds of Scotland. The winner is:
North Baddesley Botley Rd - Firgrove to Castle Lane
North Baddesley Botley Rd - Firgrove to Castle Lane
We will now seek to work with Romsey Future, local councils and regional cycling groups to bid for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) money to make this happen. Any help with this would be most appreciated. It may be the case that this improvement has already got funding as I understand some fasibility studies havetaken place. If this urns out to be the case we will bid for the Lee Lane improvement as this came second.
It was a close run thing. This year we said the winner will be the one with the least overall score, i.e. the one generally preferred. If you add up the scores Lee Lane got 63, Pauncefoot 86, Canal 69, Schools 67, North Baddesley 54,Tadburn 82. North Baddesley would have also won on highest number of top votes. The graphic below shows Survey Monkey's way of showing the same information with a points based system. I don't know how the Canal Path had 21 voters, but I don't think this could have made a difference.
The Improvement
Fill the gap beween cycle paths in between Firgrove Road and Castle Lane, through the centre of North Baddesley.
